About Nikko TENKARA
Tenkara fishing is one of the ancient Japanese fishing methods, and uses a kebari, which is made by wrapping bird feathers around a hook to imitate an insect, to target yamame trout and char, which mainly live in mountain streams. Fishing is extremely simple, requiring only three tools: a fishing rod, a line, and a kebari.
It was originally done by professional fishermen for a living, and although it is a simple method of fishing, it is very profound, and its popularity has skyrocketed in recent years both in Japan and abroad.
In Nikko City, a unique style called “Nikko Tenkara” has been inherited.
Nikko Tenkara is characterized by the use of needles made of wind-up fluff and woodcock feathers.
